A pretty resort rebuilt during the Second Empire at the instigation of Napoleon III, Plombières-les-Bains is appreciated for its hot springs, whose temperature can exceed 80°C (a record for Europe!).

Here, you are in an area of the department well endowed with architectural interest, with its numerous castles and stately homes, churches, hermitages, fountains and wayside crosses. Go to Contrexéville (N 64, Bulgnéville), Vittel (N 429, Thuillières, Darney (D18), Hennezel (D28), Bains les Bains, la Chapelle aux Bois, Xertigny, Plombières les Bains. If we hunt around a bit, we can find another former thermal spa resort: that of Martigny-les-Bains, whose significance and reputation earned it the nickname of "the little Versailles" in times gone by.
