Sweet or savoury, the local culinary specialities are true to local traditions. But the local products from the Vosges are so numerous and varied that it would be difficult to make an exhaustive presentation of them. As a first approach, let’s look at the tempting "marcaire" meal, from starters through to dessert.

| The keenest appetites will start their alimentary exploration with a piece of quiche or pie, whilst those who prefer lighter meals will kick off with a Vosges salad (including dandelion leaves, of course). |

But there are thousands of other flavours to be tried, wherever you may choose to eat; the delicious local game, free-range poultry, wild trout or mountain raised lamb, prepared using recipes 100 or more years old, using products grown or manufactured in our department: red fruit from the mountains, mushrooms, strong-flavoured honeys from specific plants, wines and brandies produce in the Vosges…
Other local specialities:
Sweets, in particular the « Bonbons des Vosges » made from honey and fir tree shoots, jams fruit juices and cordials
The Vosges fir-tree honey an « appellation d’origine contrôlée » (specific quality award, more generally applied to wines)
The range of different-flavoured brandies such as the Lorraine plum brandy
The special wines from the Vosges, such as rhubarb wine, currant wine, dandelion wine, etc… »
The beers brewed by small local breweries
The sparkling rhubarb wine or "Crillon" produced by Michel Moine
The Vittel frog fair
Dried flowers, medicinal plants and flavouring herbs
Did you know this ?
The little town of Celles-sur-plaine is said to be the first place where potatoes were grown in the Vosges.
The famous tuber was brought there by Swedish soldiers between 1635 and 1641, during the invasions that were part of the Thirty Years’ War.
